Which nappy brands are in each tier?

Basic (~6p/nappy): Aldi Mamia, Asda Little Angels, Sainsbury's Little Ones, Morrisons Nutmeg, Tesco Fred & Flo.
Mid (~15p): Boots own-brand, Rascals.
High (~22p): Pampers, Kit & Kin, Boots Little Stories (Boots' eco range).
Premium (~37p): Mama Bamboo, Peachies (subscription price assumed).

Prices are weight- and pack-standardised UK medians (mid-2026). See the full breakdown in our nappy cost guide.

Formula brands & cost

Every UK first infant formula must meet the same nutritional standard, so all are fine for your baby - the price is mostly branding.
Value (~11p/100ml): Aldi Mamia, Lidl Lupilu, SMA Little Steps.
Mid (~17-19p): Cow & Gate, Kendamil.
Premium (~23-29p): Aptamil, organic ranges.
Ready-to-feed liquid (~60p): handy for travel, but far pricier than powder.

Breastfeeding is recommended where you can, and it's free - but formula is a safe, full source of nutrition, and this is here to support you whatever you choose. Fawnly does not sell infant formula or earn any commission on it - brands are listed only to help you compare prices. Based on a typical ~280 litres in year one (NHS / Johns Hopkins).

Wipe brands & usage

Babies get through roughly 2-3 wipes per nappy change (we use ~2.5), so usage follows the change frequency you set above - about 5,000-8,000 wipes in year one.
Value (~1p/wipe): Aldi Mamia, supermarket own-brand.
Mid (~2.5p): Pampers, Huggies.
Premium / eco (~4.5p): WaterWipes, Kit & Kin, bamboo wipes.

Reusable cloth wipes are a one-off cost that replaces most of this - see the kit list.

Your checklist

💡 Only the car seat and mattress need to be bought new - everything else is fine second-hand. Prices are typical UK guide prices for 2026 to help you budget - actual prices vary by brand and offers. Some “Shop” links are affiliate links: if you buy through them Fawnly may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. This helps keep Fawnly free.
